Novels read chapter by chapter (Chapter One is always free). A set is read in any order.
Group chapters into sets (set the same number on chapters that belong together) and price each set. Set 1 is the free opener. A reader unlocks a whole set at once — by paying, or by leaving a comment you accept.
Help readers know what they're getting. Paste the questions below into a free AI assistant (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.) together with your manuscript, then paste its answer in the box. This shows on your book page before a reader starts.
Describe — don't judge — this manuscript for readers. In a short, factual, neutral summary give: genre(s); narrative style; pacing; tone; reading difficulty; point of view; the balance of dialogue vs description; main themes; the likely audience; and 3 suggested feedback questions.
Pricing is by set (above) — the opener is free, and each further set has one price. Readers unlock a set by paying, or by leaving a comment you accept.
When you publish, you'll be asked to read and agree to the Author Development Agreement before your book goes live.

Debut Authors – Author Development Agreement
Version 1.1
Welcome to Debut Authors. Debut Authors is a book development platform designed to help new authors improve their work through AI assistance, reader feedback, ratings and mentoring. By uploading your work, you agree to the following terms.
1. Ownership
You always retain ownership of your copyright and intellectual property. Uploading your work to Debut Authors does not transfer ownership of your book, story, characters, world, or ideas to Debut Authors.
2. Purpose of the Platform
Debut Authors exists to help authors improve works in progress. Readers, mentors and AI may provide ratings, comments and suggestions to help improve your work. These comments are opinions only and are not guarantees of commercial success or publication.
3. Your Responsibilities
By uploading your work you confirm that: you own the work or have the legal right to upload it; the work does not knowingly infringe another person's copyright; you understand that other users may independently create similar ideas without copying your work; and you are responsible for the content you publish.
4. Copyright Protection
Debut Authors records important information about every submission, including upload dates, version history and account details. These records may assist you in demonstrating when a work was submitted to the platform. However, Debut Authors does not guarantee copyright protection, ownership disputes, or legal outcomes. If you believe someone has copied your work, you are responsible for deciding whether to pursue legal action. Where legally permitted, Debut Authors may provide submission records or other relevant information to assist lawful investigations or court proceedings.
5. Platform Responsibility
Debut Authors cannot guarantee that another person will never copy, imitate or misuse your work. By using the platform you acknowledge that: publishing creative work always carries some risk; Debut Authors is not responsible for copyright infringement committed by third parties; and Debut Authors is not responsible for financial loss arising from plagiarism, copyright disputes or unauthorised copying by another user or external party.
6. Privacy of Your Work
Only people you authorise, or those permitted by the platform features you choose to use, may access your work. Private drafts remain private unless you choose to submit them for review or publication within the platform.
7. Ratings and Feedback
Ratings and comments are intended solely to help improve your work. They do not represent professional publishing decisions and should not be interpreted as guarantees of quality or commercial success.
8. AI Assistance
AI may assist with writing, editing, grammar, structure, summaries and quality analysis. AI suggestions are recommendations only. You remain solely responsible for every word you publish.
9. Mentorship & Free Chapters
Debut Authors includes a built-in mentorship reward. When a verified professional mentor leaves a written comment on a chapter of your book (a review that includes an actual note — the star rating given does not matter), the next chapter is made available to that mentor free of charge. This encourages qualified professionals to read on and keep giving written feedback. It is built into the platform and is provided at no cost to you as the author — you do not pay the mentor, and it does not reduce any payment owed to you from ordinary readers.
10. Development Programme
Books on Debut Authors are considered works in development until they reach the platform's completion standard. Authors may remove their work from the platform at any time, subject to any commercial agreement they have accepted regarding sales, revenue or participation in the development programme.
11. Suspension or Removal
Debut Authors may remove content that: infringes copyright; is unlawful; contains malicious software; is abusive, threatening or fraudulent; or violates these Terms.
12. Limitation of Liability
Debut Authors provides a development platform only. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Debut Authors is not liable for: copyright infringement by third parties; lost sales or publishing opportunities; business losses; reputation damage; decisions made by readers, publishers, producers or agents; or technical interruptions beyond reasonable control.
13. Changes to These Terms
Debut Authors may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the platform after changes have been published constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
14. Acceptance
By creating an account or uploading a manuscript, you confirm that you have read and agree to this Author Development Agreement.
